How To Have An Affair By Lindsay Harper

Thanks for inviting me to guest blog today and I’m so excited to be telling you about my new book “How to Have an Affair.”

The book was originally going to be called ‘The Greatest Gift’ but one day when I was out walking my dogs the new title came to me and from then on it was called “How to Have an Affair” – which you have to agree catches your eye. I had to add novel after the title as some people thought it was a workbook giving you tips on how to be unfaithful to your partner (which it isn’t!)

I’ll let the blurb tell you what the book is about.

How to Have an Affair

Have you ever been attracted to someone you shouldn’t?

Were you prepared to risk everything?

Robyn Fisher is a frustrated, busy, working mum and wife who feels that life is passing her by – that is until she meets charismatic psychologist, Jay Trethedick, at a weekend seminar. Despite the instant attraction, Robyn resists Jay’s advances only to surrender to temptation a week later and they begin an intense and passionate love affair. But when the lovers start taking increasingly dangerous risks, Robyn’s husband discovers the truth and walks out, destroying Robyn’s world.

But the grass isn’t always greener. After an attempt to start a new life with Jay, Robyn realises she has to take the biggest risk of all; choosing who to love and who to let go. As sexual desire battles with real life and family, can she make the right choice?

Just how far is she willing to go?

Despite its title, it is a contemporary love story showing the heartbreak infidelity brings - not only on the couple involved but on the rest of the family and friends, especially the children.

I could tell you it’s good but I’ll let a reviewer do that. She is far more eloquent than me!

I really REALLY loved this book. It was not a typical romance book at all. In fact, I would classify it more as women’s literature. The main character, Robyn, begins an affair while on a work trip and the book focuses on the emotional fallout of that decision. For her, her husband, and her lover as well as their friends and family. In so many books, we want to cheer for the protagonist to leave her mediocre husband and find her one true love with the hot new guy, but that isn’t how life typically works out, is it? The author has such an insight into the highs and lows of adultery I found it difficult to put down, even though I was so very angry with Robyn at times. I mean, irate. (I’m still a little angry with her to be honest!) 5 stars without question! I'm looking forward to Ms Harper's next book.

Because I couldn’t say goodbye to the characters I turned it into a series of three “How to…” books. The sequel “How to Have an Amicable Divorce” is out today, May 15th with the final one, “How to Have a Happy Marriage” released in September.

I now write full time which means I can get approx. 3 books written and published a year. Having a publisher- 5Prince Publishing – makes it so much easier than self-publishing which I did for my first three books. Find me on Amazon Author Central to read about my first three books.

I live in West Yorkshire, England with my husband and four Springer Spaniels. I have two grown up children and three young grandchildren which I enjoy looking after occasionally! When I’m not writing I practice Homeopathy and help run our Property Maintenance and Repair business. For fun I enjoy walks by the water and love going to the beach. I am an avid yoga fan and meditate daily to keep me sane. I love cooking, designing and decorating my home and garden, 60’s retro and anything romance.

I look forward to coming back on the 29th of May to tell you all about my new release “How to Have an Amicable Divorce.”

Thanks again,
Lindsay Harper
