Accidental Cowgirl By Maggie McGinnis

Blog Diva - Monday, November 18, 2013

Thanks so much for having me here today!! I’m thrilled to be celebrating the release of Accidental Cowgirl, a sweet contemporary romance featuring two seriously-broken people finding their way to true love. Today I thought I’d share a little snippet of the book – a scene where the hero and heroine first meet. Kyla’s alone, has a flat tire, and a pseudo-cop is in the midst of treating her to a battery of sobriety tests. Luckily, a knight in shining … denim … comes along to save the day!

As she got to forty jumping jacks, Kyla heard a low hum in between her labored breaths. Could it be? She strained her ears toward the sound. Oh, thank God! There was another vehicle coming. She kept one eye on the road behind her car, and was elated when a black pickup came into view. When it pulled to a stop on the shoulder and a man slid out of the driver’s seat, she gulped and stopped jumping.  Read More

Ninety Eight by Shannon Mayer

Blog Diva - Monday, November 11, 2013

Thank you to the RomCon Contemporary blog for hosting me and Ninety Eight today. Ninety Eight is my second contemporary romance, and I took a real chance on this story knowing that it was not a ‘typical’ romance. I knew that in writing it, I was exploring a theme that was, at best, touchy and readers would either love it or hate it. Let me tell you, it was a nerve wracking thing to put the book out, to take that chance.
Bet you didn’t expect me to say that, did you? Here’s the thing, I’m not the kind of writer who’s going to tell you how great my book is and EVERYONE will love it. I know that isn’t the case, especially when the subject is more controversial than most.
So why would I write a book knowing all that? I think that readers are getting bored of the same old, same old (okay, at least I was getting bored of it) and I wanted to push the envelope, to see if I could break through that boredom for people. (As well as for myself). That is what I hope to do with all my books, to push the envelope and try and show a different side to love stories that maybe hasn’t been done before. (I think. LOL) Read More

Texas Tango – Book 2, Texas Montgomery Mavericks Series

Hi All! Cynthia D’Alba here. Happy to be back here at the RomCon Contemporary blog to talk about the second book in my Texas Montgomery Mavericks series. TEXAS TANGO is the story of Travis Montgomery (oldest brother of the heroine from Texas Two Step) and Caroline Graham. And, for my Texas Two Step fans, we revisit Olivia Montgomery and Mitch Landry and catch up on their lives. And of course Adam makes a return visit.

I’m not sure where my fascination with cowboys comes from but no matter what traits I give my heroes, I find them in cowboys. Strong, sexy, caring, protective, dedicated…it’s all there. I thought I’d share a short scene from TEXAS TANGO…

“Great. I’m hoping you’ve given some thought to selling the Fitzgerald property.”  Read More

Keep her Grams from becoming Mrs. Claus. Of course, Francisco's grandfather is not really Santa Claus, but Grams did run off to Vegas to marry him and she's obviously not in her right mind.

Will they catch Santa and his crazy Mrs. Claus before it's too late? Or will love stop them in their tracks?

The Holiday Serenade By Ava Miles

Holiday Date Night: Magical. Or Is It?

Hi, all. I’m Ava Miles, a contemporary romance writer with a unique obsession for Gone With The Wind—rather like my hero’s mother in my new Christmas story called THE HOLIDAY SERENADE, part of my Dare Valley series. I’d like to thank RomCon for giving me the opportunity to share the fun behind my newest release.

I don’t know what it is about the holidays, but I think it has more fun dating venues than any other time of year. There are things to do like going ice skating.

And that’s what my hero, professional poker player Rhett Butler Blaylock cooks up for the woman he’s in love with. They live in the small town of Dare Valley, Colorado, which has a picturesque ice skating rink in the middle of their Norman Rockwell-like town square. Read More

I’m thrilled RomCon® asked me to talk about my debut novel, Command Performance, a red-hot entry in Harlequin Blaze’s Uniformly Hot! series! Drawing from their questions, I’ve put together a little interview for you.  Read More

Small Town Heroes

So, hi, I’m Ava Miles, and I was born in a small Midwest town, so it’s no surprise that I’m writing a small-town contemporary romance series called Dare Valley. I value the community spirit, the whole knowing-your-neighbors thing, and especially being able to drop by someone’s house for a visit and have a piece of pie. My favorite is lemon meringue, by the way.

In my new release, THE GRAND OPENING, I tell the story of the tough-as-nails single mom cop, Peggy McBride, whom readers first met in NORA ROBERTS LAND. Peggy has moved to Dare Valley, Colorado to be closer to her brother and to give her young son, Keith, a more family-oriented community since he has a dead-beat dad.  Read More

The Melody In My Head By Nikki Lynn Barrett

Hi! Thanks for having me today!

So recently, I've learned that I LOVE series! I enjoy reading them...and I'm loving writing them! I just published my second book in the Love and Music in Texas series, and I'm already excited about book 3, which I'm not writing yet since I'm working on a Christmas book. Which, while it's not a series, it IS connected with my debut Christmas story.

Anyhow...jumping the shark a little :)

Never did I imagine how much I'd enjoy a series. But there's something about making new friends and visiting with some old ones that appeals to me. When I started the first in the series, I honestly had no idea who book 2 was going to be about yet. Yeah, total panster on my part. It wasn't until partway through Baby Stetson (Book one) that I knew who I was writing book two about. Well, at least, I had part of that. I knew I wanted more of Jameson and his story. I just didn't know who I'd pair him with yet.

I looked through my old files and story notes and found a perfect match for Jameson. I had Melody's story in mind for awhile, especially the beginning, and thought...”Hey, why not?”  Read More
