You know the old BAIT AND SWITCH gimmick? It’s when something is dangled in front of you that looks too good to be true so you snatch it up only to find out at the last possible moment that the bait has been switched to something far less desirable.
I thought about this in the pharmacy the other day (I’m a community pharmacist) – the companies that make Diabetic testing meters offer a **FREE** or **GREAT DEAL** on their meter and people buy it expecting all these great things – small blood samples! Painless! Convenience!
Then they realize they’ve been had. The meter may have been free, but companies don’t make money on the meters, it’s the TEST STRIPS. The poor person is now having to buy expensive test strips and lancets that only work with their **FREE** meter.
See? Bait and switch! No different than 2 FOR 1 Happy Hours where you end up staying waaaay past happy hour (who? Me? No, of course this hasn’t happened to me!) and then buy food and drinks which are now back to their regular price!
I didn’t want to have my readers think they were getting a contemporary romance about cupcakes. I didn’t want naked people intertwined, and I definitely didn’t want it to be easy on the eyes. I wanted it to pop. Sure, there’s romance! (cue cute, happy couple walking on the beach). Sure there’s a great setting (Mal Pais, Costa Rica), but see those eyes? That’s the real story.
Oh yeah, no mistaking about this book. I, Kat de Falla, promise you I did not BAIT AND SWITCH behind that cover. I delivered a page-turning dark fantasy/horror with a hot paranormal romance.
So, if you like the cover, I’m guessing you might like the book. No gimmicks, no games. Angels, demons, and lots of fight scenes.
As a treat for everyone, THE SEER’S LOVER is about to go off KDP and go worldwide JUNE 4th. But if you have a kindle, it’s available on Amazon for only $2.99 until then. If you’d like to show a new author some love, check it out and let me know what you think.
My super-sexy composer hubby wrote three original songs that are free with the purchase of the book – I hope you enjoy!
Now, tell me about the last time you got your BAIT SWITCHED!!
Have a great last day of May and wonderful upcoming summer!
