Meet the Couple from An Honorable Wish by Eileen Richards

Remember the movie When Harry Met Sally? Scattered through out that movie were these interviews of couples on how they met and how long they were together. I thought it would be fun to do that sort of interview, but regency style... sort of.

So, if I may, I would like to introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Tony Matthews, our couple from

An Honorable Wish, book two of the series A Lady’s Wish.

Please tell our readers how you two met?

Mrs. Matthews: Please, call me Juliet. When I first met Tony, he liked my sister. In fact, I have it on good authority that he was going to propose to her.
Mr. Matthews: I was not.
Mrs. Matthews: Really, Tony. You wrote awful poetry about her. Don’t you remember?

Mr. Matthews: I don’t remember anything but how beautiful you looked the night of Anne’s engagement ball. That’s when I started falling for you.
Mrs. Matthews: Really? But that was two years ago?
Mr. Matthews shrugs. It took you a while to notice.

What is it that you admire most about each other? Mr. Matthews, perhaps if you go first?

Tony: Please, call me Tony. Everyone does. While I might have been interested in her sister first, Juliet’s intelligence and goodness drew me to her. It didn’t hurt that she has an interest in erotic literature and that she looks really great in breeches.
Juliet gasps. Tony, that’s private.
Tony: So what do you admire about me?
Juliet: He’s adorable and he saw me. I wasn’t invisible to Tony.

Tony: True enough. You were the reason I ever attended those horrible assemblies in London. I love to waltz with you, my dear. How about those annoying habits?
Juliet: There’s the gaming.
Tony: Which I do not do any longer.
Juliet: True, you did give up that nasty habit. I’d have to say that Tony’s most annoying habit his propensity for public displays of affection.
Tony: I can’t help it if I can’t keep my hands off of you.
Juliet blushes. Perhaps not. What about me? I don’t have any annoying habits do I?
Tony: No. You just want to rescue the entire county. She’s a do-gooder, but I really don’t mind. But the reading. The woman cannot keep her nose out of a book.
Juliet: you don’t mind some of those books.
Tony grins. Some of those books inspire me.

What was the moment you felt the proudest of the other?

Juliet: This one is easy. Tony gave up gambling for me. I know it was hard for him and I’m so proud of him for doing so.
Tony: I couldn’t have done it without Juliet’s faith in me.

Do you have a favorite funny stories about the other?

Tony: There is that time I almost drowned you at the pond.
Juliet: That was not funny at all. I can’t swim.
Tony: Or the time I found you trying to hide your naughty books in my room. Tony smiles. It was quite satisfying.
Juliet: See what I have to put up with? He’s always randy.

What are three words that describe each other?

Juliet: Honorable, funny, and loving
Tony: Juliet is a better person than I could ever be.
Juliet: That’s so sweet. Thank you.

Thank you both for stopping by to chat with our readers today.
