Under My Skin Blurb
A gryphon is a winged-beastie with an eagle-like head and the body of a lion. Most statues depict a gryphon with bird-like talons, eagle’s head and wings, but with ears of a lion, and a lion’s hindquarters, but there have been a few statues of a gryphon that appear more like a lion, but have an eagle’s head, and no wings.
Here are a few spellings for the legendary creature: Gryphon, Griffon, and Griffin. Its name derives from the Greek 'gryphos', which means 'curved' due to its curved beak.
While gryphons were common in the art and lore of Ancient Greece, they were also found in Ancient Persian and Ancient Egyptian art, dating back to 3000 BC. Read More

Wow... the chance to see the madness of the world through the eyes of a unique seventeen year old woman. What writer would not be passionately infatuated with the idea?
Readers of “The Evil and the Fear”(TEF) and “Expect Civilian Casualties”(ECC) (Plus a few short stories from garybonn.com and writerlot.net) have asked me why I sometimes choose unusual people as main characters. Read More

Rain fell, not uncommon for late spring in Missouri. “If you don’t like the weather here,” my grandfather would say, “wait five minutes.” Of course, I’d visited distant relatives in Maine once before, and they said the same thing.
Julie fumbled with the wipers while I pulled the sun visor down to check my face in its little rectangular mirror, even though I’d only left my vanity like five minutes ago. The lights on either side lit up the interior of the car. I reached into my tiny party purse to find my lip gloss, which was easy to locate since I’d only packed the essentials in my bag: phone, some cash, and make-up. As I glanced at myself, I saw Mike in the reflection, smiling at me from the back seat. I stuck my tongue out at him, making him laugh, and put on the lip-gloss, fully aware of how flirty I acted.
Greetings, Friends! My name is Brenda Maxfield, and I’m delighted to be a guest today at RomCon®. For those of you who love Young Adult books and would enjoy a getaway to the Washington Coast, I’d like to introduce my new release, Buried Truth! Since I grew up on the Washington Coast (although now I’m a landlocked Hoosier!), I had a lot of fun writing this book. The story plunged me right back into those misty teenage days, with the pounding surf and the cool ocean breezes.
Except when I walked along the ocean, there was never a guy like Andrew waiting for me! Ha!
Here’s the Blurb for Buried Truth (Ocean Mist Book One):
Nearly a decade has passed, but Mags can’t forget what she did. Now at 17 years old, the shame continues to haunt her, coloring her world. She throws herself into every worthwhile project available, struggling for redemption. Read More

PROPHECY GIRL by Cecily White (EntangledTeen, 2013)
I touched the door lightly, the creaky hinge inching open. For all the atmospheric build up of the house, I had to admit I was disappointed. There were no pentagrams, no animal sacrifices, no voodoo talismans. It just looked like a boring, old room. We’d been told to expect the unexpected for our field tests, but this wasn’t quite what I’d had in mind. Read More
